Expanded OTC (SSBCI): Provider Attestation
Your patient may be eligible for extra help with everyday needs
Some Elderplan members can use their Over-the-Counter (OTC) allowance for more than health items, such as groceries, utility bills, and rent. This is called Expanded OTC, and it is part of Medicare’s Special Supplemental Benefits for the Chronically Ill (SSBCI).
Starting in 2027, Medicare requires the member’s provider to confirm eligibility.
Enter the information below to start the confirmation process and determine your patient’s eligibility for this expanded benefit.
* Eligibility is determined by whether you have a chronic condition associated with the SSBCI benefit (expanded OTC). Examples of SSBCI conditions include, but are not limited to, Cardiovascular Disorders, Diabetes, Arthritis, Chronic Lung Disorders and Chronic Kidney Disease. Other eligible conditions are not listed. Standards may vary for this benefit.
