Transportation

Getting Where You Need to Go

HomeFirst doesn’t provide non-emergency medical transportation as a plan benefit.

However, New York State covers this through the Managed Long-term Care program and Medicaid. Transportation for HomeFirst members is arranged by Medicaid Answering Services (MAS), the New York State Department of Health’s statewide transportation partner.

You pay $0 for medical and non-medical rides.

You can use NEMT to get to and from medical appointments, such as:

    • Doctor and specialist visits

    • Dental appointments

    • Urgent care center visits

    • Dialysis and other ongoing treatments

    • Hospital visits

    • Your cost: $0

Scheduling a Ride with MAS

You or your provider should contact MAS at least 3 days (72 hours) before your medical appointment, and have ready:

  • Your name, date of birth, and Medicaid ID number (CIN)
  • The date, time, address, and provider name for your appointment
  • Your pickup time and location, and whether you need a return trip

New York City (Manhattan, Brooklyn, Bronx, Queens, Staten Island), Nassau, Westchester, or Putnam

Traveling Outside the Service Area

Tell your care manager when you plan to travel — and ideally before you leave. We can help arrange any medically necessary care while you’re away.
